A Closer Look At The Performance of Shark Navigator NV356E

The Shark Navigator NV356E comes with a decent feature set, as we have shown in the previous article. Read on to find whether this design can translate into impressive cleaning results and how it’s compared to other upright models from Shark.

Performance

Like the Shark NV360 , the NV356E produces a strong suction, and it shows in the impressive cleaning results on both area rugs and hardwood floors. We have tested this upright on many surfaces, and all of them proved the NV356E an effective tool. Even in high traffic areas, such as the area rugs on the hallway, which usually attracts plenty of debris and dirt, this machine still did an incredible job getting rid of the dirt.

Thanks to its narrow suction tube, the included crevice tool can help you reach tight corners and other hard-to-reach spaces such as furniture ledges and windowsills. On the other hand, the dusting brush comes in handy for delicate household items such as drapes, window blinds, and lampshades. The pet power brush is ideal for ground-in dirt and pet hair on stairs. Even if your pet sheds a lot, the NV356E can give you peace of mind by picking up pretty much every loose hair and dirt particle you can spot.

Once done with the main floor in your house, you can detach the canister to begin cleaning other areas as well. You can still use the NV356E in the upright mode with the canister taken off, making it an ideal choice for areas such as under furniture. But keep in mind that when the canister isn’t attached to the main body of the machine, you can only clean with the “Bare Floor” mode. In addition to that, you can activate the rotating brush in this portable configuration either.

From our test, it seems that the handheld mode of NV356E only does a great job of vacuuming on hardwood floors. On carpeted surfaces, the suction drops significantly, and the machine can’t have enough power to pick up as much dirt and debris as  Shark navigator lift away deluxe NV360.

Comparison With Other Models

  • Shark APEX DuoClean AZ1002

Shark produces vacuums at all price points. If you’re in need of a premium model that has a similar design but outperforms the NV356E, look no further than the AZ1002. This upright has all bells and whistles – the reason it has a hefty price tag. However, all those additional features allow the AZ1002 to effectively vacuum under furniture. It can also maintain full suction power when you have detached the canister – another major flaw of the NV356E.

  • Shark Navigator NV360

On the other hand, if you’re looking for a slightly cheaper upright vacuum from Shark, you see Shark Navigator NV360 reviews  that there is no better option than the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe NV360. This is a great affordable model that possesses many of the same cleaning features that you can find on the NV356E. However, the NV360 comes with only two attachments, and the power cord is quite short as well.

Conclusion

As a mid-range upright vacuum from shark, the NV356E provides a stellar performance on most surfaces compared to cheaper Shark Navigator Lift-Away upright vacuums. It’s quite flexible, and even though there are areas you could benefit from a more expensive model, it’s still a decent choice if you don’t have much money to splurge.
