How to Increase Your Alexa Ranking Fast – Three Free Tips

Do you know how well your web-site is doing? Download the free Alexa toolbar app into your favorite browser and discover what Google Analytics doesn’t tell you. You can click here to go to the Alexa toolbar download site.

What is Alexa? Alexa is a service specializing in monitoring and measuring web-site analytics in relationship to other web-sites. Unlike Google Analytics, which provides data as it pertain to your site alone, Alexa ranks your web-site against others, giving you a better relative assessment for how well you’re doing. You can go to Alexa.com to learn more.

What is Your Alexa Rank? Your Alexa Rank represents a quantitative comparison between your web-site in relation to all other web-sites. Alexa doesn’t publish its ranking methodology but it’s web-sites states it “combines a site’s estimated average of daily unique visitors and its estimated number of pageviews over the past 3 months.” For what it’s worth, it ranks your web-site both on a total web basis and on a country specific basis.

What’s the fastest way to increase your Alexa ranking for free? Like Google, there is no “sure-fire” way to guarantee an increased ranking. Many sites, however, offer these three tips:

  • Download the Alexa ranking app to your browser(s). You can’t know what you don’t measure.
  • Constantly monitor your site’s Alexa ranking. This will give you a sense how things are working. It’s worth noting that there’s not necessarily a correlation between the data you see in Google Analytics and your Alexa rating.
  • Encourage your readers to download the Alexa ranking app to their browser. While they do gather data for their ranking in a number of ways, their web-site does confirm “we gather much of our traffic data from direct sources in the form of sites that have chosen to install the Alexa script on their site and certify their metrics.” It’s this last part about “certify their metrics” that get dicey since that appears to be a way Alexa seeks to obtain revenue.

Remember, the best was to increase any type of ranking – Alexa or otherwise – is to post good content frequently and to promote those posts to your audience.
